Report from the
Partnership Committee following its meeting held on 28 February 2001
Main Discussion
Points
Establishment of the
Secretariat
The Secretariat for the
Committee was agreed.
Communications
The
first draft of the proposed article on Partnership in UCD
for the UCD News was discussed. It was suggested that a
footnote be included inviting applications from
non-unionised staff to join the Committee. It was
recommended that this article should advise staff that
regular communication will be made by the Partnership
Committee to the wider population of UCD.
Retirees
It was recorded
that the initial response to the mini-survey carried out
by the Committee was weak. Most other Colleges appear to operate
a minimalist approach. Further research will be
carried out and a report will be submitted on facilities
provided by other organisations for their retired staff.
It was suggested that information may be sourced at the
Retirement Council of Ireland.
Composition of the Partnership
Committee
It was
agreed that consensus decision making will facilitate the
composition of the Partnership Committee.
Skillsnet Programme - Training
needs analysis
Nominations
from management and trade unions to be received by Monday
5th March 2001, for the training needs analysis
that is due to take place on the Wednesday morning, 7th
March 2001.
When the training needs
analysis is completed, members of the network select
accordingly from a menu of topics.
Action Points
It was suggested that the
University Safety Officer be invited to give a presentation
to the Partnership Committee on the outcomes of the report
written by the sub-committee on Health & Safety
issues.
It was agreed that the
structure, within which the Partnership Committee
operates, be formalised at the next Partnership Committee
meeting. It was suggested that the strategy of the
Partnership Committee should be aligned with what is
required under the terms of the PPF. The Committee is
awaiting formal guidance from the HEA on this matter.
