Report from the Partnership Committee following its meeting held on 24 September 2001

Main Discussion Points

Matters arising from minutes of last meeting
Re: Skillsnet conference on 'Reward & Recognition',  conference documentation is available on request.

It was agreed that the Committee would consult with the Grounds and Buildings Committees regarding the possibility of a presentation to the Partnership Committee on developmental plans for the University.  It is recommended that a sub-group of the Partnership Committee be arranged in November to address environmental issues in UCD.

Skillsnet - Second Thematic Event, Communications
It was agreed that a PRO and a sub group of the Partnership Committee be arranged, to address the possibility of a web page for the Partnership Committee, subsequent to this event.

Draft Proposal re Payment of 4% under PPF
MSF expressed their agreement in principle to the draft proposal. IFUT and SIPTU need to consult with their members.  PDP presentation to be circulated to all members of the Committee. The draft proposal will be discussed further at the October/November meeting.

Skillsnet Problem Solving Module (Oct 23/24)
It was suggested that the Committee consider drafting a general grievance and disciplinary procedure. Concern was expressed that Statute 1 will overwrite any output from the Committee. It was said that if the Committee succeeded in agreeing a draft general grievance and disciplinary procedure, it could facilitate further input into Statute 1. It was stated that the main objective of the problem solving module is the problem solving process, rather than any output produced.

Objectives for the problem solving workshop to be circulated to the Committee.

It was requested that the Partnership Committee write a letter, reminding authors of Statute 1 to be aware that partnership exists in UCD, and that non-academic staff members should have representation on University committees.

AOB
It was requested that all future presentations to the Partnership Committee describe complete information. It was mentioned that the presentation given by Mercer was incomplete and that post '95 employees of the College contribute to their own gratuity.
