4         Crèche

Bronwyn Molony reported on the Creche in Belfield. Professor Mary Clayton, VP for Student Affairs has stated the Crèche has a capacity for up to 65 places.  The issue has been with the baby room.  The University has done some work replacing the flooring of the existing Crèche.  The contract for the current Crèche will not be renewed from May 2006. One million euro funding is available for the establishment of a second facility, provided that is non-profit making. Currently the existing Crèche is the dearest among the seven universities. UCD would like to maintain continuity and one company to manage both Crèches. Staff at the Crèche are not employed by the University. Professor Clayton met with parents of crèche 2 weeks ago.  The Creche building will be maintained for use by the new contractor

4          AOB

The issue of redundancies in the Main Restaurant was raised
Michael Flanagan stated that this was an industrial relations matter
He said that the redundancies were sought on a voluntary basis
on terms and conditions of which were agreed at the LRC.  It is not
envisaged that further redundancies will occur.

The library partnership committee requested that the point be raised for staff doctor to be available at Belfield with health checks to be run on campus.  Michael Flanagan agreed to raise this with Michael Rafter and report back to the committee

There was dissatisfaction expressed about access to the benefit of Income Protection Insurance and issue of applicants. Tommy Murtagh suggested that a representative from Irish Life address the issues with members of the Committee. Michael Flanagan agreed to contact the insurance company.
