- UCD honours world-leading philosopher, Professor John H. McDowell.
- Prof Maria Baghramian and Dr Aine Kelly were awarded Fulbright scholarships for 2013-14.
- Prof Dermot Moran was awarded the Gold Medal in the Humanities from the Royal Irish Academy. The award recognises outstanding contribution to the recipient's field. Prof Moran is the first philosopher to receive this prestigious award.
