Studying Philosophy in Dublin
Application Procedures for the Programme
The Dublin Graduate Philosophy Programme comprises two separate entities: the Trinity College Department of Philosophy and the University College School of Philosophy. Each institution will retain its own admissions procedures, and will issue its own degrees. Every student will be formally registered with one or the other institution, and will have a main supervisor from that same institution.
Students interested in doing a doctoral degree in Dublin should first peruse the list of staff members from both institutions, together with their research specialisations. They may wish to contact specific staff members informally to discuss specific research projects that they would like to study.
For further details on applying to Trinity, as well as details about the Trinity side of the programme, see their Postgraduate Programmes page.
For further details of applying to UCD, see here. For further information about the UCD side of the Programme, see their Graduate handbook.
Applicants might also like to consider the MPhil in Psychoanalytic Studies at Trinity, and the series of MA programmes at UCD.
