Biography:
| Gerard Casey is Associate Professor in the School of Philosophy at University College Dublin, Adjunct Professor at the Maryvale Institute (Birmingham, UK) and Associated Scholar at the Ludwig von Mises Institute (Auburn, Alabama, USA). He was Head of Department/School from 2000 to 2006. He previously taught at the University of Notre Dame, 1980-1981 and at the School of Philosophy in The Catholic University of America (Washington, D.C.), 1983-1986. He was a member of UCD's Governing Authority 2004-2009 (re-elected for 2009-2014) and is NUI Consultor to the State Examination Commission in the subject Religious Education. He received his BA from University College Cork, then went on to receive an MA and PhD from the University of Notre Dame. He has a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of London and a Master of Laws (LLM) from University College Dublin. He serves on the editorial boards of Geopolitics, History and International Relations; Contemporary Readings in Law and Social Justice; and Libertarian Papers, and is a member of the Royal Institute of Philosophy; the Association for Political Theory; the American Philosophical Association, The Independent Institute and The Aristotelian Society. He has written Murray Rothbard (Vol. 15 in the series Major Conservative and Libertarian Thinkers) published by Continuum, 2010 and his Libertarian Anarchy: Against the State was published (also by Continuum) in July 2012. |
