Medium and Message- seminar and workshops to run 3-4 May and 5 May

Medium and Message- Two day seminar and one day workshops:

As the Photography and International Conflict project moves into its final months of funding, we are planning a two-day seminar and a set of one day workshops- which will be held at UCD campus in Dublin 3-4 May and 5 May- to consider the future of photojournalism and documentary photography.

Medium and Message: Conflict Photography in the Digital Era is a small, specialized, single-track seminar that will bring together academics, photographic practitioners, those working in various aspects of visual media, industry commentators and NGO personnel to discuss the visual representation of several recent conflicts, the role of the visual in post-conflict settings, and new technological, cultural, economic and stylistic opportunities for visual media.  This event will be held 3-4 May.

Medium and Message: Visual Campaigning in the Digital Era and Medium and Message: Visual Journalism in the Digital Era are two one-day workshop strands to be held 5 May.  The Visual Campaigning workshop is targeted to NGO and development agency staff looking to gain practical insight into creating and distributing powerful, visually-driven campaigns from leaders with diverse experience in this area and those who are implementing ethical codes of visual conduct in their organisations.  The Visual Journalism workshop is aimed at visual journalists looking for a range of advice on navigating today's media market and interested in receiving feedback on their own projects and ideas from local and international professionals in the field.  Numbers in both workshop strands will be kept low to faciliate a high level of individual participant engagement with workshop leaders.

For more information on both the seminar and workshops, see our dedicated web page in the Conferences section of this site.
