How You Can Help
Sweep 2011-2013
We are currently at the beginning of yet another exciting phase of the study.
During this phase we hope as many adult members (fathers, mothers and grandparents h sides of the family) will complete a short health questionnaire. This can be done by post, over the telephone, or online.
We will also aim to contact the GP’s of families who gave us permission to do so. This is in order to get information on the current health of the Lifeways children and to provide the children with a health check. This would include measuring of the child’s height and weight, and possibly a saliva sample to look at genes. By doing this, we can look at how lifestyle and genes work together. In this way, we hope that in the future we can pinpoint ways in which people can avoid health problems.
For some families based in the greater Dublin and Galway areas, we will take a small blood sample from the children to look at levels of glucose and certain fats in the blood.
We are looking forward to working with you on this next phase of the study.
The information you, your child and family provide can help make a difference and benefit future generations.
