Excellence shines through

Awards of medals of excellence were presented by the Institute of Biology of Ireland to students who achieved the highest marks in the 2011 Leaving Certificate Biology exam. The ceremony took place during the 2012 Annual Conference of Irish Science Teachers Association on the 20th of April, 2012. Pictured at the award presentation are Dr. David I. O’Connor (Chairman, The Institute of Biology of Ireland) and Rachel Murphy. Rachel studied at Gorey Community School, Gorey, Co.Wexford, and is currently studying Physiotherapy in UCD. She was one of four recipients of the award. All students achieved such a high mark that it was not possible to differentiate between them as winners of the award.
