Active Campus Europe Project Maastricht

Official Start of “Active Campus Europe Project” in Maastricht

Recently, the Erasmus+-funded project “Active Campus Europe” (ACE) was launched at the Provincial Government Building in Maastricht. This is an initiative lead by RWTH Aachen University who along with UCD and 14 other universities from Finland, United Kingdom, Portugal, Spain, The Netherlands Germany and Trinity College Dublin have successfully secured EU funding for a 2 year project. ACE aims to gather best practice models and to develop and test a common intervention to promote physical activity for students and staff in Universities across Europe. UCD collaborators are Brian Mullins, Director of Health Promotion and A/Prof. Catherine Blake, School of Public Health, Physiotherapy and Sport Science The UCD Get in Gear Programme run by Carmel Keane (UCD Sport) in collaboration with Catherine Blake (UCD Physiotherapy) since 2006 is one of the best practice model exemplars and is a long standing pillar of UCD’s Healthy Campus initiatives. The common Europe wide intervention will incorporate core elements of Get in Gear, which has shown significant health and well-being benefits for UCD students.
