DGET (Data-Grid Environment and Tools for Distributed Management and Analysis of Large Sets of Scientific Data) is an interdisciplinary project funded by the Framework 6 programme of the EU.
Grid based computational infrastructure has emerged as a natural response to the demands of computing applications worldwide which are becoming more complex and demanding in terms of resources as well as increasingly collaborative and interdisciplinary. DGET will provide a framework for Data-Grid computing that unifies resource access and representation in a user-friendly environment that is ubiquitous, adaptive, robust, and scalable.
This will be prototyped on key test-bed activities of particle physics, astrophysics and bioinformatics, applications that have been chosen by their intrinsic scientific merit, their reliance on remote data access, and their connections to international Grid efforts.
DGET is organised into five work-packages; more details of activity within each are available from the side-bar.
