Ciara Egan (ciara.egan@ucd.ie)

Funding Body: SFI.

Ciara Egan graduated from UCD in 2011 with a BA in Geography and Archaeology. In 2012 she completed an M.Sc. in Climate Change at the National University of Ireland, Maynooth. During the course of her Masters, Ciara investigated the effects of future climate change on the urban climate of Dublin, looking in particular at the Urban Heat Island effect. This was facilitated through using a statistical downscaling technique to project future local climate.

Since graduating, Ciara worked for a non-for-profit company that specialises in disseminating and transferring the knowledge generated from European funded research projects, firstly as a Project Assistant and then as a Project Officer. Within this role Ciara primarily project managed the EU FP7 project ‘HEALTHY FUTURES’, which investigated the future impact of climate change on a range of water-related, vector borne disease prevalent in Eastern Africa.

Ciara is currently working as a Research Assistant in the Plant Palaeoecology and Palaeobiology Research group where she is responsible for supporting all aspects of the research team.
