Terms of Reference
1. Consider, and make decisions or recommendations, as appropriate, on, strategic academic issues facing the university in the areas of
- Education
- Research
- Innovation
- Internationalisation
- Student experience
- Academic infrastructure
- Quality.
2. Develop and oversee the implementation of an academic plan for the university aligned with the objectives of the UCD strategic plan.
3. Monitor and drive delivery of academic targets establisged by UMT.
4. Oversee the annual planning process for academic units: Schools, Colleges and major Research Institutes.
5. Assess proposed major initiatives from an academic perspective and against UCD strategic and academic plans.
6. Develop and oversee the implementation of specific academic initiatives, including externally-funded initiatives, required to advance the objectives of the UCD strategic plan.
7. Liaise with the UMT Finance & Operations Group in the development of academic plans and the assessment of academic initiatives.
8. Act as the senior management escalation point for academic issues.
9. Advise the UMT Finance and Operations Group and ensure that its work is aligned to the academic objectives of the University, including review and commentary on major initiatives from support units.
10. Develop an annual work plan for the subcommittee and report regularly to the UMT on progress against this plan.
11. Develop and oversee annual work-plan for College Principals and academic Vice-Presidents.
12. Refer strategic academic issues for consideration by Academic Council.
13. Report deliberations and decisions to the UMT.
