University Awards

Teaching & Learning

The UCD Teaching and Learning awards recognise faculty and staff who deliver excellent education. The adjudicators identify achievements underpinned by evidence and quality enhancement, innovative curricular structures and a student-focused learning environment.

The awards are presented by the President at a ceremony where the accomplishments of recipients are celebrated with colleagues and family. Winners also receive a financial reward which can be used to continue their teaching and learning development or, depending on the award scheme, a sum to fund a teaching and learning project. The Writing Centre for example was originally set up with the support of a President’s Teaching Award is now well established and supports thousands of UCD students.

With this in mind, the evaluation process takes into account where the research will take place. Preference is given to those whose fellowship application includes a period of research in another institution.

These research Fellowships are intended to support substantive research projects, leading to a peer-reviewed publication, monograph, patent or other significant research output and is awarded based on a highly competitive process.
