University Awards - Foundation Day Medals

The Foundation Day Medal is presented to distinguished UCD graduates who have made an outstanding contribution in their field of expertise. The medal is presented to the recipient at the annual Foundation Day Dinner, held in November to mark the foundation of the Catholic University in 1854.

Maeve Binchy was awarded the UCD Foundation Day Medal at a Concert of Music and Literature in the National Concert Hall in May 2007. The concert was part of a series of events to mark UCD's departure from Earlsfort Terrace after 124 years. She is pictured at the event with her husband Gordon Snell
