University Awards - Teaching & Learning - President's Teaching & Learning Awards

The President’s Teaching Award supports the winner, through a grant of €5000 to complete a specific project in the area of teaching & learning that is clearly in line with UCD’s Education Strategy.  This prestigious award recognises the abilities of a recipient who will have a track record in teaching and learning including the adoption of leadership role in curriculum design, programme development and peer mentoring in Teaching & Learning. The purpose of the College Teaching Awards is to acknowledge specific efforts and achievements in teaching and learning by the recipients, appropriate to the current stage of their careers. Such work should show clear alignment with UCD's education strategy. This award will financially support the recipient to further develop this work by involvement with similar teaching activities nationally and internationally.

Dr Martin Brady

School of Classics - Dr Brady served as School Head of Teaching and Learning from 2006 to 2009 and was at the forefront of several initiatives in the area of curriculum design, including a recent review of the school’s teaching programme.

Ms Carolin Grampp

Quinn School of Business- Ms Grampp promotes different learning approaches which are reflected in the variety of assessment methods employed in her modules.

Dr John O’Sullivan

School of Architecture, Landscape and Civil Engineering- Dr O ‘Sullivan’s  goal as a teacher is to inspire students to achieve their highest potential while ensuring they have the tools, techniques and skills to work as professionals when they graduate.

Dr Alice Feldman

School of Sociology - Dr Alice Feldman is a lecturer in Sociology and co-Director of the Migration and Citizenship Research Initiative. She has played a key role in the introduction of active learning to the school’s methods curriculum, which has contributed to increased seminar attendance, assessment outcomes and student retention.

Dr Patricia Fitzpatrick

School of Public Health, Physiotherapy and Population Science- Dr Fitzpatrick has created a novel initiative to promote postgraduate education in the area of occupational health, through development of an MSc upgrade programme.
