‘Discussions in Disability’
14th July 2016 – 09.00 – 15.30
George Moore Auditorium, UCD O’Brien Centre for Science, Belfield, Dublin 4

On Thursday 14th July the UCD Centre for Disability Studies celebrates its 20th Anniversary by hosting a full day seminar entitled ‘Discussions in Disability’.
The event opens with a reflection on the UCD Centre for Disability Studies by Prof Patricia Noonan Walsh, Professor Emerita UCD and Dr John Hillery, Stewarts Hospital.  This reflection is followed by three discussions exploring current issues in disability; individualised budgets, assistive technologies, and risk.  Speakers include Aoife O’Toole, Dara Residential; Martin Naughton, the AT network; Dr Trish MacKeogh, Doctrid; Siobhan Long, Enable Ireland; Finbarr Colfer, HIQA; and Brendan Broderick, Muiriosa Foundation.

The aim of the discussions is to provide delegates with an opportunity to hear brief presentations from our distinguished speakers and participate in a lively audience discussion following each session. The audience discussions will be chaired by Dr Bob McCormack, formerly Dara Residential; Dr Ger Craddock, Centre for Excellent in Universal Design; and Eithne Fitzgerald, National Disability Authority.
A draft schedule for the day is found in the PDF CDS 20th anniversary Discussions in Disability.
