UCD Professor gives keynote address to New Zealand College of Clinical Psychologists
In his address Professor Carr outlined ways that clinical psychologists in New Zealand could ‘Up their game’ by embracing a model of clinical psychology practice developed at UCD. Professor Carr also gave an 8 hour workshop to train conference delegates in the UCD clinical psychology model. This model is described in series of handbooks written by the team who run the UCD Doctoral Programme in Clinical Psychology. These handbooks are now used as core texts on postgraduate clinical psychology training programmes throughout New Zealand. While in Dunedin, Professor Carr also presented an invited lecture on his recent research on the effectiveness of Functional Family Therapy in treating adolescent conduct problems to clinical psychology postgraduates at Otago University’s Department of Psychology.
