The SPARKies acknowledge the very best technology people, products and companies linked to the West of England.  They include a “Good” award for the best use of technology for the greater good of us all.

The award was sponsored by Real World Studios, founded by Peter Gabriel.  The judging panel comprised Margaret Heffernan, Blogger with the Huffington Post, Charlotte Calkin, Curator, TEDxYouth, Mike Large, COO, Real World, Daryl Rush, Country Director, UK Orange, and Ian Robson, Head of T3, Future PLC.  The judges said:  “Pesky gNats is a computer game that uses core elements of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. We love the extension of gaming into the therapeutic space, connecting with young people in their own world.”

Pesky gNATs will be officially released in early 2015 with a range of games tailored to different mental health problems experienced by young people in the pipeline, all produced on a sustainable not-for-profit basis.  For more information follow @peskygnats on twitter or watch the talk “Generosity” about the project from the inaugural 2013 TEDxUCD
