Professor Norio Hisada visits UCD Centre for Disability Studies
Professor Hisada has a distinguished career exploring and promoting the role of social workers and direct care workers who support individuals with disabilities in Japan. Professor Hisada specialises in providing leadership and management training for those working in the disability field.
During his visit to the Centre, Professor Hisada outlined current disability support services in Japan, in particular the movement from institutional towards community-based living options. Prof Hisada was particularly interested in sharing experiences given the similar transition to community-based services which is currently being implemented in Ireland.
The Centre looks forward to sharing our knowledge and experiences with Professor Hisada as both Japan and Ireland move towards more personalised and community-based services.
