The UCD School of Psychology is involved in a large number of research activities. Check this page to see if there are any current opportunities for you to participate in our research

SONA system

Interested in psychological research? Why not sign up to the School of Psychology Research Participation System! This is a centralised hub where researchers in the School of Psychology advertise their studies and recruit participants. By signing up, you will have access to a list of studies currently seeking participants. You can choose which studies you wish to take part in, but you're not under any obligation to participate at all if you don't want to. You can access the participation system at https://ucd-ie.sona-systems.com/.

Research on Mind wandering

Does your mind wander when you are supposed to stay focused? Where do you drift off to? Participants are required for an experiment investigating mind-wandering during an attention task. Participation will involve completing an attention task a number of times and answering questions about the types of thoughts you have when you drift off.

Participation will take up to 2 hours to complete, so you will be compensated €10 for your time.

Research on Perceptual Load and Memory

Have you ever had the experience of trying to focus on something important, but been constantly distracted by irrelevant sounds and sights in your environment?
Dr Ciara Greene and team are currently conducting a study on a novel method of enhancing learning and memory by reducing distractibility, taking advantage of a theoretical construct known as ‘perceptual load’.

Participation will involve completing a computerized memory task and while you perform the task, sensors in the computer monitor will track your eye movements to see where you are looking on the screen. Participation will take approximately 1 hour and participants should be over 18 and have normal or corrected-to-normal vision.
