UCD Centre for Disability Studies second year student was invited guest at the 4th European Parliament of Persons with Disabilities.
The UCD Centre for Disability Studies is delighted to celebrate the achievement of David Lysaght, a second year student on our MSc in Rehabilitation and Disability Studies. On December 6th 2017 David was an invited guest at the 4th European Parliament of Persons with Disabilities, jointly organised by the European Disability Forum (EDF) and the European Parliament (EP). This event, hosted at the European Parliament in Brussels, brought together delegates from representative organisations of persons with disabilities throughout Europe, European MEPs, and high level representatives of other EU institutions. The event provided European citizens with disabilities an opportunity to dialogue with their elected representatives. Motions passed on the day included a call to involve more people with disabilities in the political process, and the Adoption of Resolution on the European Disability Strategy. David was invited by the Disability Federation of Ireland to be a member of the Irish delegation and met with Irish MEPs, including Vice President of the European Parliament Mairead McGuinness MEP. Congratulations David!
