
School of Psychology hosts USA-Ireland Family Therapy Seminar
Professor Todd Edwards and Professor Jo Ellen Patterson from the University of San Diego presented a paper on Family Therapy in Primary Care at a USA-Ireland seminar on Friday March 2nd 2012 in the UCD School of Psychology. The seminar was attended by postgraduates from the UCD doctoral programme in clinical psychology and the University of San Diego masters programme in family therapy.

Clinical Psychology: An Introduction
Clinical Psychology is for students studying clinical psychology as part of an undergraduate programme in psychology, nursing, sociology or social and behavioural sciences.

Graduation 2010
The 2007-2010 cohort graduated in December 2010. Nine clinical psychology trainees were conferred with Doctorates in Clinical Psychology (DPsychSc), the photo was taken outside the O’Reilly along with some of the Clinical Psychology Course team. Rosarie Crowley was the recipient of the 2010 Therese Brady Medal and she was awarded her medal at a separate evening reception for the graduates and their families.
Graduation 2009
On December 7th 2009, nine candidates were awarded the D Psych Sc in Clinical Psychology. This year Dr Rebecca Martin was awarded a distinction and Dr Maeve Mangoang was awarded both a distinction and the Therese Brady Medal. All of the graduates of the programme have been appointed to clinical psychology posts within the Irish health service. The D Psych Sc is run by UCD in partnership with the HSE, and attracts funding of over €1m for each cohort of 9 - 11 postgraduates over a three year cycle. In all 67 candidates have graduated from the D Psych Sc programme since the first graduation in 2000.

UCD Professor Receives Award from European Family Therapy Association

UCD Professor of Clinical Psychology addresses four Dutch universities
On October 1st, Professor Alan Carr from the UCD School of Psychology made an invited keynote address in Leiden, Holland, to the Inaugural Postdoctorale Beroepsopleiding Orthopedagogiek (PDBO) congress.

Research funding for evaluating Teen Counselling service for adolescents and their families
Professor Alan Carr has secured a three year grant from Teen Counselling. The study involves a controlled trial to evaluate the effectiveness of the family-based approach to counselling used at Teen Counselling's five Dublin centres.

Ongoing research evaluating functional family therapy
Professor Alan Carr is involved in a study that is evaluating functional family therapy within an Irish youth justice context.

On going research on the validation of the Systemic Clinical Outcome and Routine Evaluation (SCORE) for use in an Irish context.
Professor Alan Carr is involved in this research project which is a pragmatic and clinically-based questionnaire for completion by family members 12 years and older, to capture indicators of family functioning that may be sensitive to therapeutic change arising from family therapy.

Professor Alan Carr has secured a three year grant from Teen Counselling to support Ciara Cassells’ graduate studies.
