Biography:
| Professional history: Consultant trainer: Worked as training officer with Institute of Public Administration(1978-81) with personnel from Irish, Malawian and Zambian health services in Ireland and Zambia. Ran courses in management skills for Management and Research Development in AIB (1992-1994). Psychologist: worked as Psychologist with Galway Co. Association for Mentally Handicapped Children (1985-1987). Commissioned to run research survey on staff of major bank group who had suffered armed bank raids and together with senior management drew up procedures to support bank staff in aftermath of such raids. Counsellor to staff in aftermath of band raids for Bank of Ireland, AIB and Irish National Bank (1991-1993) Psychotherapist : Psychotherapist with Turning Point (1987-1990) and then in private practice (1990-present day) working with clients (specialist areas- bereavement and trauma) and supervision of therapists Joined UCD in 1995 and acted as Course Directors of MA (Counselling)Psychology (1995-1997), Higher Diploma in Careers Guidance (1996-2001). Currently Course Director of HIgher Diploma in Psychology. Am currently in process of completing PhD on "The impact on therapists of working with survivors of trauma"

| Psychological trauma; Bereavement; Professional, Ethical and Legal aspects of psychotherapy practise; Psychotherapy/counsellor training, Constructivist Psychotherapy and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy; Self- Care for psychotherapists and health care professionals. Am currently in process of completing PhD project: The impact on therapists of working with survivors of trauma. |
