All modules are worth 5 credits except PSY 30360 Psychology Research Project which is worth 15 credits.
In the Honours BA in Psychology in Stage 1 (during year 1) students take 4 core psychology modules; they may take 2 additional elective / optional modules in psychology; and 2 or more modules in 2 or 3 other elective arts subjects. In stage 1, a maximum of 12 five-credit modules leading to a total of 60 credits are taken. In stage 2 (which spans second and third year or levels 2 and 3) students take all 13 core psychology modules and at least 5 optional modules in psychology. Laboratory Practicals in Psychology I and II are taken in second year. The Psychology Research Project module is taken in third year. There is scope for students to take electives in other arts subjects provided they do not exceed 60 credits per year, timetable clashes are avoided, and module-specific prerequisites are met.
In the Honours BA International in Psychology in Stage 1 (during year 1) students take 4 core psychology modules; they may take 2 additional elective / optional modules in psychology; and a number of modules in 2 or 3 other elective arts subjects. In stage 2 (which spans the second, third and fourth year) students take all 13 core psychology modules and at least 5 optional modules in psychology. Laboratory Practicals in Psychology I and II are taken in second year. The Psychology Research Project is taken in fourth year. There is scope for students to take electives in other arts subjects provided they do not exceed 60 credits per year, timetable clashes are avoided, and module-specific prerequisites are met. In third year of the Honours BA International Psychology programme students study abroad and take modules at an international university worth 60 credits (if teaching is through English) or approximately 45 credits (if teaching is through another language). All modules taken abroad must be passed but grades on these modules do not contribute to the overall degree grade.
