HR Partners and Organisational Development
The overall aim of the Quality Review process is described as ‘a developmental process to manage for continuous quality improvement’. This aim aligns with that of UCD HR working as a strategic partner to enable continuous development of the University and the local Academic and Support units. For the purposes of the Quality Review, two roles within the HR team are key – HR Partner and Organisation Development. As part of their services, both areas work together to facilitate units in conducting the staffing and organisation aspects of the Quality Review Process. They draw on the expertise of other HR and Support unit inputs as necessary during the process.
HR Partner (HRP)
A HR Partner has been assigned to each of the Colleges and some of the Support units in the University. The role is similar to that of a ‘local’ HR Consultant whose primary function is to assist and support the College and School/ Support unit management in the effective implementation of UCD policies, practices and initiatives relating to staff management, and the input of best practice on the identification, design and delivery of staff-related projects.
HR Partners routinely provide support across a wide range of operational HR matters. In addition, they aim to offer support in more strategic areas such as reviewing organisational structures, resource and succession planning, staff development and communications.
Organisation Development (OD)
Organisation Development is a specialist unit located in the HR Strategy & Development team. The unit focuses on enabling continuous organisational improvement at the University. It works with management on the development of clear, cohesive and effective structures and roles, management processes and planned capability, and the development of a positive working culture, all delivered through the application of leading project and change management practices.

UCD Library
UCD Library Services and Facilities has prepared a checklist to assist academic units in evaluating the contribution of the Library to a Unit's teaching and research activities and to the quality of their students' experience, as part of the Unit's preparation for quality review. It is not definitive, but is intended as a guide, to ensure that relevant aspects of library and information services are not overlooked. Please liaise with the member of library staff with primary responsibility for services to the unit for more information.

UCD Teaching & Learning Student Feedback on Modules
What is student feedback on modules?
Student Feedback on Modules is UCD’s system for collecting anonymous feedback from students on the design and delivery of modules. This feedback is an important source of information for lecturers and schools to use in reviewing and improving modules and it forms part of UCD’s quality assurance process. In some cases student feedback is an essential requirement for accreditation by external professional bodies. All students are expected to provide feedback on what worked well and any areas for improvement.
How do I play my part?
Towards the end of each semester you will receive an email to inform you that the student feedback on modules web surveys are open. All the information that you provide will be anonymous and it is taken seriously. Above all, we need you to use this important feedback system every semester so that we can hear your views. The surveys are completed at www.ucd.ie/survey
What are students saying in their feedback?
See below a snapshot of some of the topics that students across the university raised; the bigger the word in the picture, the higher the volume of comments on that topic.
This will be acted on as part of the module enhancement process.
Who runs UCD’s Student Feedback on Modules Survey?
The student module feedback survey is run by UCD Teaching & Learning and UCD Institutional Research in partnership with schools across the university.
Thank You
UCD Teaching & Learning would like to thank all the students who played their part in improving their programme by providing feedback last semester. They look forward to hearing from you again soon.
UCD Institutional Research
The role of institutional research is to provide data support for University planning and management activities directed toward fulfilling the goals and objectives of the University.
Institutional research is essentially a supporting function within UCD which aims to inform decision making and planning at senior management level. The Director of Institutional Research reports to the Director of Strategic Planning and is closely aligned to the activities of the Quality Office.
The Director of Institutional Research will supply statistical data and information for use in the quality review process which will include information on applications, student registrations, graduations, and retention rates. This suite of statistics will give each unit under review a consistent and reliable source of information to begin their self assessment process.
