Monitoring and Review of Collaborative and Transnational Taught Programmes

Increased internationalisation is a feature of the Irish education and training system. The opportunities represented by these activities, for individual institutions and for the education and training system as a whole, are significant. The risks associated with these activities are also significant. The risk associated with collaborative and transnational provision is considered highest when it involves taught programme provision. The focus, therefore, of the documents below will be on this category of provision. Other types of collaborative activity are beyond the scope of the guidelines, for example: student exchanges, articulation, student placements/study abroad and joint research and cotutelle arrangements. The guidelines provide a framework for the monitoring and review of taught collaborative and transnational arrangements and seek to assure standards and quality while minimising the associated risks.
