Biography

Séamas Kelly is Professor of Organisation, Technology & Society at the UCD School of Business. He has a PhD in Management/Organisation Studies from the University of Cambridge, and a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering & Microelectronics (Hons, 1st Class) from University College Cork. He also holds a Diploma in Business & Executive Coaching from UCD, and is a practicing executive coach.
 
Séamas' research interests are in the area of critical organisation and technology studies.  He is a co-founder, and former Director, of the UCD Centre for Innovation, Technology & Organisation (CITO), and has held visiting appointments at the Universities of Cambridge and Sydney. His work is broadly concerned with the relationship between knowledge, technology and social organisation, including: 
 
 * the organisation of knowledge production practices & their politics; 
 * digital innovation processes & their social implications; 
 * novel forms of social collaboration & collective learning; 
 * organisational change & its politics; 
 * leadership & coaching cultures; 
 * affectivity & embodiment in processes of knowing, organising & relating; 
 * praxeological approaches to social/cultural inquiry.

Research Interests

My research interests are in the area of critical organisation and technology studies, and are broadly concerned with the relationship between knowledge, technology, and social organisation.  Key themes include:

  • complex/distributed forms of social collaboration and collective learning;
