The Bachelor of Business & Law degree at UCD Quinn School combines two vital components of the commercial world, business and law, offering you tremendous flexibility in your future career.
If you want to practise law you can do so with a sound foundation in the principles of good business. If you want to go into business you can do so with the thinking and analytical skills that come with a Law degree. As a graduate you will be uniquely equipped with a comprehensive range of relevant skills to help you succeed in the legal and business fields, in Ireland or abroad.
During the four-year programme you will study the basic principles of both Business and Law. On the business side you will learn how to analyse and critique business issues while also developing practical business skills Your business studies will mirror the new BComm curriculum. Your legal studies will mirror the new BCL curriculum which allows you to pursue various pathways into Law having studied the Foundations of Legal Knowledge.
Stages 1 to 3 (First to Third Year)
During your first three years you will study both Business and Law equally. With Business, you will explore key areas such as Management, Marketing, Finance and Employee Relations. You will also study the principles of substantive law and legal practice, including Contract Law, Company Law, Constitutional Law and EU Law.
At every stage you will learn how the areas of Business and Law relate to each other.
Stage 4 (Fourth Year)
In your final year you will have the option to study more of the subject area you are strongest in, or have the most interest in. In other words, you can study more Business subjects or Law subjects, depending on your preference.

Students on the Business & Law degree programme have the opportunity to apply to spend Stage 3 studying on exchange at one of our partner universities located in France, Belgium, Austria, Germany or Spain. This is an excellent opportunity to experience different cultures and to improve your language skills. Students follow business and law courses in the relevant language: French, German or Spanish, and successful students will be awarded the Business & Law degree (European).
Alternatively, you will have the opportunity to apply to spend a year abroad studying through English at one of our partner Universities in Australia. Successful applicants will be awarded the Business & Law degree (International).
