UCD Host Internship Agreement Form

Companies interested in taking part in the Internship Programme should contact the Internship Office to discuss their available roles at quinnsummerinternships@ucd.ie. Roles should be in business, full-time, operating Monday to Thursday, and be either in-person or hybrid in format.

Compile a short job description (template provided). These are typically submitted during March and April.

Host employers should confirm they understand that UCD requires this internship placement to be Monday to Thursday, full-time and in an in-person or hybrid format. They should also confirm that they are happy to work with an unpaid short term contract arrangement as part of a wider academic programme.

Details of matched interns are then submitted to employers and confirmation of acceptance is required in early May, with a view to confirming and finalising all internships with students by mid-May.

Interviews are handled by the UCD Quinn Placements team. We conduct virtual interviews with each student to review their CV and ascertain their skills and placement interests before allocating them to a suitable internship placement.

Companies and organisations do not interview their candidate directly. A placement meeting will be set up between the intern and their placement organisation prior to the summer internship placement commencing.

The UCD Quinn Internship Placement team matches students to roles based on their academic background, skills and experience and the requirements outlined in the Job Description. The Internship Placement team will send you details of your matched candidate by mid-May.

UCD requires host companies to complete an online Internship Host Internship Agreement around Mid-May before the internship placement commences.

Ahead of the 2024 internship commencing, interns will attend a placement meeting in the company offices (exact date tbc). The purpose of this meeting is to meet with line management and relevant staff to discuss the job responsibilities and reporting structures.

Placements commence on Monday 24th June 2024. Students work during office hours from Monday to Thursday with Friday free for classes at UCD. Students complete their placements on Thursday 1 August 2024.

During the internship you may be asked to facilitate a site visit or provide feedback on the intern’s progress. At the end of the process you will be asked to evaluate the student’s performance and to complete a short survey on your experience of the programme. We also send out a short survey in late July to gather employer feedback on their overall experience of the programme.
