Dear Colleague, I am pleased to announce that the inaugural year of the UCD Fellowships in Teaching & Academic Development has now been launched with the appointment of nine Fellows.
UCD Fellows in Teaching and Academic Development
Back row, l-r: Dr. Graeme Warren, Dr. Amanda Gibney,
The Fellows will focus initially on the development of new practices in two strategic teaching and learning topics: The First Year Experience and Assessment. The Scheme, which is the result of a successful bid to the HEA Strategic Initiative Fund is being coordinated by Dr Bairbre Redmond (Vice-Principal for Teaching & Learning, College of Human Sciences) and Elizabeth Noonan (Director of Academic Policy & Programme Development). It includes a strategic link with the University of Limerick through which the UCD Fellows will link with similar scholars in teaching & learning through a series of inter-institutional colloquia and a major conference. The first Colloqium with the University of Limerick will take place in September 2007. I would like to congragulate our new Fellows and wish them the very best of luck with their endeavours. I believe that this work will result in the development of completely new perspectives in the focus areas.
Dr. Philip Nolan,
