Introduction

The Governing Authority of University College Dublin, National University of Ireland, Dublin was established under the Universities Act, 1997 and is the direct successor of the Governing Body established under the founding Charter of University College Dublin (1908). The primary responsibility of the Governing Authority is to guide the strategic direction of the University, with particular emphasis on overseeing policy, monitoring the performance of top management, and working with the President to set UCD's strategic aims.
