Programme Boards

Introduction

Programme Boards / Graduate School Boards are responsible to the University Programmes Boards and to Academic Council for the design, development, regulation and quality of, and for overseeing the delivery of the programmes under its remit.

What is delegated to Programme Boards for final decision?
Programme Boards and Graduate Boards are responsible for the approval of the following decisions:

  • Admissions (non CAO, non OLA)
  • Accreditation of prior learning and exemptions
  • Internal transfers
  • Leave of absence
  • Extensions
  • Notification of withdrawal
  • Appointment of supervisors (Graduate)
  • Appointment of Doctoral Studies Panel (Graduate)
  • Conversion project students

What decisions are NOT delegated to Programme Boards?
The following requests should be recommended at Programme Board and Graduate Board level and sent to the appropriate Academic Council committee for final approval:

  • Appointment of subject extern examiners (these must be communicated to Assessment for approval by ACCE)
  • The award of Posthumous and Aegrotat degrees (must be awarded by the Academic Council)
  • The approval of significant changes to programmes (submitted to UUPB or UGPB)
  • Programme and module derogations from the regulations (submitted to UUPB or UGPB)
  • Dual registration (submitted to UUPB or UGPB)
  • Appointment of Special Externs or Thesis Externs for PhD and Research Masters Students (these must be communicated to Assessment for approval by ACCE)
  • Approval of adjunct staff as principal supervisors (submitted to UGPB)
  • Co-tutelle agreements (submitted to UGPB).
