How do I apply for a Banner account?
You can apply online here:

You need to have a UCD connect account (contact IT services ext 2700 or helpdesk@ucd.ie) and a personnel number (contact hris@ucd.ie) to apply.
What browser should I use to access Banner?
Most modern browsers will work with Banner once you have the java client installed.
At this time internet explorer 8 is not support by UCD IT services.
Does Banner work on a wireless network?
Outside of UCD it will work on a wireless network. On campus you need a wired connection .
I cannot open Banner, what should I do?
Check that you have java installed on your machine.

I am on a Mac, can I access Banner?
Yes, and you should not need to install any additional software. OS X ships with java.
I get a security warning while opening Banner, what should I do?
If you get the message 'Cannot verifty digital signature' you should click 'Run' to launch Banner. Remember to check 'Always trust content from this publisher'. Once you do this you will not get the message again.
What do I do if my password has expired/I have forgotten my password/my account is locked?
You will need to contact us directly by calling us at ext 1222 or email business.support@ucd.ie. Please always include your UCD connect username and personnel number in all correspondence.
I get a java error when opening banner, what should I do?
If you get an error java.class.lang not found remove the port from the banner url (:9010) so it looks like this:
https://sisweb.ucd.ie/forms/frmservlet?config=usis_client
Reload the page and banner should then open for you.
I do not know what to enter in the database field at the Banner login
For the live database use usis_db. If you need access to Banner test please contact us directly.
Banner is freezing or I cannot print from Banner, what should I do?
You need to reinstall your java client.
  • Open your Control Panel
  • Open Add/Remove Programs
    Remove all references to java here (including J2SE or JRE)
    Reinstall the client

  • Restart your browser and try again
I cannot access certain Banner forms, what should I do?
Access to forms is based on your role. If you feel you should have access to anything you do not have please email business.support@ucd.ie and include your personnel number and UCD connect username.

How do I apply for an InfoView account?

I have an account but I cannot access Infoview, why is that?
Please email business.support@ucd.ie with your Connect username and we will reset your account.
Reports will not open when I run them, what should I do?
You need to have Adobe Reader installed to open reports. You can download it free from Adobe:

If you are using a Mac you will need a pdf add-on to view reports. You can install the add-on here:

I need access to additional reports, who should I contact?

I get a database error when running a report
Restart your browser, if you still get the error restart your computer. If the error persists, contact us at ext 1222 or email business.support@ucd.ie and we will investigate the issue further for you.

Banner Gradebook
What is Banner GradeBook?
Banner Gradebook is University College Dublin's web-based Modular assessment results entry system. It is designed to enable the relevant staff in Schools to enter assessment marks and grades directly to the Banner Student Information System.
There is a GradeBook in Blackboard, is it the same thing?
No, Banner GradeBook is not part of the Blackboard application.
How do I get set up to enter results in Banner GradeBook?
  • Module Co-ordinators get access automatically based on the information submitted at the Module Descriptor stage.
  • Assistant Graders get access by filling out the Module Assignment Form stating the module(s) they require access to in GradeBook. Go to https://intranet.ucd.ie/registry/assessment/gradebook.html to access the request form (Connect username and password required).
How to I get into Banner GradeBook?
GradeBook is accessed via UCD Connect.
  • Open up a Web Browser (e.g. Firefox, Internet Explorer).
  • Open the UCD Web Page at http://www.ucd.ie
  • At this point you will need your UCD Connect Username and Password. If you do not know these, please contact the IT Services Helpdesk at extension 2700.
  • Enter your UCD Connect Username and Password in the Connect Login section under the picture
  • Once you have logged into Connect, click on the Administrative Services tab.
  • You will see the UCD SISWeb channel in the centre of the page. Click on the button to open SIS Web.
  • In SIS Web, click on the Assessment Menu tab.
How do I access GradeBook if UCD Connect is not available?
  • If Connect is unavailable you can access GradeBook via the SIS link at the bottom of the UCD homepage using your Personnel Number and your PIN.
  • Log into SIS Web and click on the Assessment Menu tab.
My SIS PIN is not working, what should I do?
On the Login page, click on Forgot PIN? and provide the correct answer to your security question. Click Submit Answer. You will then be asked to enter a new PIN for future access. If the problem persists contact business.support@ucd.ie for assistance.
I have accessed the Assessment Menu, what do I do next?
  • Click on Enter GradeBook.
  • Your modules for the current academic year will be listed under Current Modules.

I can access my module but there are no components for it?
Contact your Programme School Liaison person to verify the structures for the module in question. Provide the relevant module details (CRN, semester etc).
Can I change the component information for my module?
The structure and component information that appears in Gradebook for your module reflects what was submitted prior to the start of the academic year. It should not be changed once the information has been published.

Not all of my students are appearing in GradeBook, what do I do?
Contact your Programme School Liaison person with the relevant student number/name and the module they are missing from.
I have students registered to my module but I dont have results for them, what should I do?
Contact your Programme Office to check the registration status of the student.

How do I record my results on a spreadsheet and upload them?
  • In GradeBook access the module in question. Click on Download Import Template to create a spreadsheet that you can then use to record component results on.
  • Upload this spreadsheet to GradeBook when ready.

Im unable to enter final grades for a module, why?
  • If you are not the Module Co-ordinator for the module in question you will not be able to enter/amend the final grades.
  • If you are the Module Co-ordinator but cannot enter/amend final grades for your module contact your Programme School Liaison person with your Personnel Number and the relevant module details.
Im unable to commit grades to academic history, why?
  • The Commit to Academic History button will be live during the week of the Boards. A schedule outlining the Board dates will be made available to you by the Assessment Office.
  • If you are not the Module Co-ordinator for the module in question you will not have access to this function.
I want to review the results that have been entered in GradeBook, how should I do this?
Use the GradeBook Reporting InfoView reports.

I dont seem to have access to the InfoView reports I want, who should I contact?
Contact business.support@ucd.ie with your Personnel Number and Network Username. Tell them what reports you require access to.
I can run the report but there is module/student information missing, what should I do?
  • If a student is missing from your report, check the following first:
    • that the correct prompts (Term, School, Programme code etc.) have been used to run the report.
    • that the student is registered to the module and that they have the appropriate stage assigned.
  • If a module is missing from your report, first check that the correct prompts (Term, School, Programme code etc.) have been used to run the report.
  • If you still require assistance, contact your Programme School Liaison with the relevant student/module information.
I have a question about academic policy/regulations, where can I find information?
General
I have updated software not supported by UCD
In windows you can use System Restore to roll back to the previous version.
  • To access this click Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools.
  • Select the last available date and run the system restore.
  • In OS X you can simply trash the item and download the correct version.
Blackboard/Connect account
All blackboard and UCD connect issues should be directed to the IT services helpdesk at ext 2700 or helpdesk@ucd.ie.
