Payment of Fees

UCD does not provide any mechanism by which the fee liability of a student for a given year can be waived or deferred.

Students with financial challenges are advised to contact their Student Adviser who can provide information on the supports UCD does provide - The Student Assistance and Student Welfare funds. However, the terms of this funding (Department of Education & Skills and the European Social Fund) precludes their use for payment of fees.

Further information on application, closing dates, etc are available at http://www.ucd.ie/studentadvisers/financial.html

Students with fees outstanding at the end of the academic year are not permitted to register to the following academic year or to graduate until such fees plus fines (if applicable) have been paid in full. Students also do not have access to their examination results.

The UCD Fees and Grants office does not issue invoices to individual companies or to students for the purposes of paying fees. If you are in a situation whereby you are in receipt of private sponsorship and a company or third party is paying your fees, this is a matter for you and your sponsor directly. The fee liability for your programme rests in full with you as the student of UCD, and the fees office will not issue invoices to third parties under any circumstances.

Payment

There are several ways to pay fees to UCD:

  • To pay your fees, you can order a UCD Bank Giro Form online at any time. When you receive this, you will see the fees displayed which are applicable for payment specific to your programme.
  • The UCD Fees and Grants office does not issue invoices to individual companies or to students for the purposes of paying fees. If you are in a situation whereby you are in receipt of private sponsorship and a company or third party is paying your fees, this is a matter for you and your sponsor directly. The fee liability for your programme rests in full with you as the student of UCD, and the fees office will not issue invoices to third parties under any circumstances.
  • UCD regrets it cannot accept cash payments for any portion of a students fees.
  • If you have an Application Number or a Student Number you can pay directly by credit card using UCD's online payment facility. This is available at www.ucd.ie/stuweb.
  • If you are resident in Ireland or intend to pay your fees at a bank in the Republic of Ireland you may request a UCD Bank Giro form online while registering. If you pay by Bank Giro the portion of the form stamped by the bank should be retained as this may be used to claim tax relief where applicable.
  • Payment dates and the proportion you pay at different points in the year are the same as they were for 2010/11 for undergraduate 'free fees' students and graduate 'full year' students. Students may pay fees by semester
  • If you are on a 1 semester programme - all fees must be paid in advance
  • If you are on a 2 semester programme - you may pay your fee in halves by semester
  • If you are on a 3 semester programme - you may pay your fee in thirds by semester
  • Where a student is receiving funding from a third party source, students must pay either a half or a third (whichever is applicable to the programme) of the student's remaining personal liability in order to be a registered student of the University.
