Payment
There are several ways to pay fees to UCD:
- If you have an Application Number or a Student Number you can pay directly by credit or debit card using UCD's online payment facility. This is available at www.ucd.ie/stuweb. This is the quickest and easiest way to pay. A receipt will be emailed to you at your default email address or another that you specify.
- Alternatively, and provided you have an Application Number or a Student Number, you may order a UCD Bank Giro Form online. This may be used to pay your fees at any bank in the Republic of Ireland. If you pay by Bank Giro the portion of the form stamped by the bank should be retained as this may be used to claim tax relief where applicable.
- The UCD Fees and Grants office does not issue invoices to individual companies or to students for the purposes of paying fees. If you are in a situation whereby you are in receipt of private sponsorship this is a matter between you and your sponsor directly. The fee liability for your programme rests in full with you as a student of UCD.
- UCD regrets that it cannot accept cash payments for any portion of a student's fees.
-
Students may pay fees by semester
- If you are on a 1 semester programme - all fees must be paid in advance
- If you are on a 2 semester programme - you may pay your fee in halves by semester
- If you are on a 3 semester programme - you may pay your fee in thirds by semester
- You will find a schedule of payment dates here: http://www.ucd.ie/registry/adminservices/fees/fee_payment_dates.htm
- Where a student is receiving funding from a third party source, students must pay either a half or a third (whichever is applicable to the programme) of any balance of fees and charges in order to be a registered student of the university.

Refund of Deposits
(i) Undergraduate Programmes
Booking deposits paid by International undergraduate students are non-refundable.
(ii) Graduate Programmes
Deposits are non-refundable except where the applicant fails his or her final undergraduate examination and is, therefore, not eligible for entry to the course. A deposit is non-transferable except to another Graduate programme within UCD in the same academic session. Deposits paid in respect of the MRUP (Masters in Rural and Urban Planning) are not transferable to any other programme.
(iii) Graduate Diploma in Education Applications Centre:
Deposits paid to the Graduate Diploma in Education Applications Centre are paid in respect of the Graduate Diploma in Education only and cannot be transferred to any other programme.
Erasmus & International Student Exchange Students
All outgoing ERASMUS and International Exchange students must register at UCD and pay fees to UCD for the year in which they are abroad.
Additional Charges
(i) Study Tours
Agriculture (certain subjects), Architecture, Botany, Engineering (certain subjects), Geography, Geology and Zoology. Study tours form an essential part of the programme in the above subjects. The cost of these tours must be borne by the students. Full details are provided by the relevant School.
Financial assistance: Students who hold Local Authority/County Council/ SUSI grants may apply to their Local Authority/County Council/SUSI for assistance towards the cost of study tours.
(ii) Bench Fees
Bench fees may be payable by non-European Union students registering for Graduate research programmes. Students seeking admission to a research programme should ascertain in advance from the relevant School the fees payable.
(iii) Additional Subjects
Where a student is permitted by a School to attend an additional subject, the fee for that subject is payable by the student. The 'free' fees scheme does not cover subjects additional to those normally taken. Undergraduate students taking more than the standard credit load for the award of their degree must pay the full cost of additional modules.
Receipts
If you pay online you will be emailed a receipt (see above).
You may also print your own receipt for the current year. Log into www.ucd.ie/stuweb
If you pay by UCD Bank Giro the portion of the fee payment form stamped by the bank should be retained as a receipt for fees paid.
UCD does not provide any mechanism by which the fee liability of a student for a given year can be waived or deferred.
Students with financial challenges are advised to contact their Student Adviser who can provide information on the supports UCD does provide - The Student Assistance and Student Welfare funds. However, the terms of this funding (Department of Education & Skills and the European Social Fund) precludes their use for payment of fees.
Further information on application, closing dates, etc is available at http://www.ucd.ie/studentadvisers/financial.html.
Undergraduate students whose outstanding fee at the end of the academic year is greater than that permitted under the debt-carry-over facility will not have access to their examination results, nor will they be permitted to register in the following academic year.
For information about debt carry-over facility see: http://www.ucd.ie/registry/adminservices/fees/news.html#5
Graduate students with fees outstanding at the end of the academic year will not have access to their examination results, nor will they be permitted to register in the following academic year.
All students who have completed their degrees will, in addition, not be permitted to graduate until all fees and charges, including fines, have been paid in full.
The UCD Fees and Grants office does not issue invoices to individual companies or to students for the purposes of paying fees. If you are in a situation whereby you are in receipt of private sponsorship and a company or third party is paying your fees, this is a matter for you and your sponsor directly. The fee liability for your programme rests in full with you as the student of UCD, and the fees office will not issue invoices to third parties under any circumstances.
