An Academic Transcript lists your complete academic history: programmes attended, a breakdown of marks/grades achieved, the degree awarded, your overall grade and conferring date. There is a fee of €22 for two original hard copies which also includes the cost of postage.
Academic Transcripts are printed on secure paper with a number of safety features. Please visit document security for more details.
Academic transcripts issued by application are in hard-copy format only and not available electronically i.e. via email.
Please complete the form and, if you are paying by credit card please fill in your details on the space provided, and submit it to the Student Desk.
You can submit the form by; (please choose 1 method only)
- Post: Student Desk, Tierney Building, UCD, Belfield, Dublin 4, Ireland
- Email: transcripts@ucd.ie (please scan & email as we need your signature)
- Fax: +353 1 7161284
Documents cannot be processed unless a completed application form is received by the Student Desk. We can only accept applications from the student/graduate themselves, and not from a third party.
Our graph indicates that for the past five months the average waiting time for a hard copy transcript to be processed and posted is on average 3 working days.
Transcripts are processed on a first-come, first-served basis. Payment is taken for the request the day it is logged on our system, usually within one working day of receiving the initial request.
This graph should not be taken as a direct predictor for future service levels, as levels of demand for transcripts can fluctuate at certain times during the year. Because of this it could take up to ten working days to process requests during these busier periods.
NB: It should be noted that transcripts which require research from our older records will take longer.
Yes, you can call to the Student Desk in person with the signed application form and we can process your request immediately. (Please note this does not apply to pre 2000 students or BA (Evening) students whose Academic Transcripts must be sent by post). Also please check our opening hours first before calling in.
Academic Transcripts are sent by standard mail in A4 envelopes once they have been processed. They can be posted to any address you specify. There is no option for express postage unfortunately. Academic Transcripts are issued in hard-copy only, electronic/soft copies are not possible.
If you wish to collect your Academic Transcripts rather than have them posted to you that is perfectly acceptable. Please state this on the form in the address section and we will contact you when they are ready. Also you may arrange for someone to collect on your behalf at the Student Desk. However, you must note this on the application form and email us the name of the person who will collect. The person who collects must present I.D. at the Student Desk.
Some Institutions require Academic Transcripts to be sent directly to them in University sealed envelopes (i.e. for a credentials company or for a college application). If you require this please state this on the form or include a cover note when applying.
UCD's Academic transcript is produced on secure paper and is a very valuable document which is signed by the Registrar. As an official document of the University, it is like for other Irish Universities, accepted throughout the world by third parties. In a small number of cases, individuals may be requsted by a third party to get an official document produced in Ireland (e.g. Marriage Certificate, Birth Certificate, Academic Transcript, Court document, etc) authenticated or what is also called apostilled by the Department of Foreign Affairs (D.F.A.). This overall process is governed by the Hague Convention of 1961. For further information on this process and service provided by the D.F.A., including the Hague Convention itself, visit: here In summary this service is provided by the D.F.A. and any queries should be addressed to them.
