UCD Course Entry Requirements - A level/GCSE

In order to be eligible to compete, you must present at least six recognised subjects (including all those necessary for the programme, see below) and you must obtain a minimum of Grade C in two subjects at A-level (A2) and a minimum of Grade C at GCSE in the remaining four subjects.

For all courses Irish and English are required. (Candidates born outside Ireland or educated outside Ireland for significant periods and candidates with certain disabilities may be entitled to claim an NUI Irish exemption. See www.nui.ie for details).

Click on the CAO code to get more information on the programme and the degree pathways available – many programmes lead to degree specialisations in several different areas. These pages also give details of particular subjects which, while not required, are recommended as a prior knowledge of them will help you in the course..

Please also view details of the general regulations and minimum entry requirements. As the number of applicants meeting minimum entry requirements generally exceeds the number of places available, admission is competitive based on a points system.
