Progression from QQI-FET Agriculture

University College Dublin is the only university offering the Degree of Bachelor of Agricultural Science in the Republic of Ireland and provides excellent teaching, laboratory and research station facilities. The University offers nine internationally recognised BAgrSc degree programmes in the business and science of agriculture and a BSc in Food Science programme. Each of the degree programme options is designed to educate the professionals who will play leading roles in key sectors of the economy.

How do I get in by this route?

Entry to first year is available on a competitive basis to students who have attained the relevant awards with the required modules. The information below is relevant to

DN252 Dairy Business (BAgrSc)
DN253 Agri-Environmental Sciences (BAgrSc)
DN261 Food Science (BAgrSc)
DN271 Forestry (BAgrSc)

What Awards are acceptable?

Pass in the following QQI-FET Level 5 awards with distinctions (80% or better) in a minimum of 5 modules::

CASLT or 5M3807 Laboratory Techniques

What modules are required?

The award must include distinctions in the following modules:

  C20139 or 5N1833 Mathematics
OR C20174 Mathematics for Engineering
OR C20175 Mathematics for Computing
OR Grade O6/H7 in Leaving Certificate Mathematics

And 2 of the following modules:

C20006 or 5N2746 Biology
C20011 or 5N2747 Chemistry
C20048 or 5N1460 Physics

How will I be assessed?

If there are more applicants than places, it will be competitive amongst eligible applicants based on QQI-FET scoring.
