Health Screening

For the protection of patients and students, certain health checks are necessary for students who will be participating in placements (please note, costs below are based on 2015 information).


Medicine, Graduate Entry Medicine, Radiography and Physiotherapy

If you enter Medicine (DN400 and DN401), Radiography (DN410) and Physiotherapy (DN420), you will be required to demonstrate evidence of immunity to certain infectious diseases (Hepatitis B and Tuberculosis). 

You will have to pay a Healthcare Screening Cost of approx €280. This is payable on registration. It covers pre-entry blood tests, checking of MMR status, giving MMR if required, checking BCG scars and provision of Hep. B Vaccines.

Please note that if you do not fulfil the School requirements regarding infectious diseases procedures you will not be eligible to register as a Medical, Radiography or Physiotherapy student.


Biomedical, Health and Life Science

If you enter Biomedical, Health and Life Sciences (DN440), you must demonstrate evidence of immunity to Hepatitis B.

You will have to pay a Healthcare Screening Cost of approx €250. This is payable on registration and it covers pre-entry bloods, provision of Hep. B vaccines and checking of post-vaccination antibody levels.

Please note that if you do not fulfil the School requirements regarding infectious diseases procedures you will not be eligible to register as a Biomedical, Health & Life Sciences student


General Nursing, Children's and General Nursing, Midwifery and Mental Health Nursing

The School of Nursing will contacting all incoming students with regard to medical testing.


Human Nutrition

From 2017 entry, Health Screening will be mandatory for registration to Human Nutrition

All offers of a place are subject to UCD's Terms and Conditions of Offer.
All students must comply with the general regulations of the university.
