External Transfer Semester 1, stage 2 or 3

Am I eligible?

You need to have the following

one All the subject entry requirements for the course. If you didn't have these in your school-leaving exams, it may be possible to meet them from your university examinations.

two You must have at least 300 points in the Leaving Certificate and be
arrow within 30 points of the class you want to enter (so if you want to enter stage 2 in 2018, you must be within 30 points of that required to enter the course in 2017).
OR
arrow within 60 points of the class you want to enter AND have achieved a grade of 2.1 or better in the year preceding the one you want to enter.

three Passed the equivalent of 60 ECTS credits in each year preceding the one you want to enter with sufficient modules and grades relevant to the new programme for the stage you hope to enter.

How many places are there?

The number of places is very small and is dependent on there being spare capacity due to students leaving. For many programmes there will be no available places.

How will I be assessed?

Usually there are more applicants than available places. Admission is competitive and there is no guarantee that any application will be successful.

If you are eligible you will be assessed on the basis of the compatibility of your modules and overall academic performance. The assessment may also include your school-leaving results or other relevant criteria.

How do I apply?

Closing date
1 July

Open the list of courses with places available and use the link beside the appropriate course. NB not all courses will open.

The closing date is 1 July. Incomplete applications will not be considered - your application, including application fee, must be submitted by the closing date.

If your result won't be out by the closing date, you should enclose any results already available with a note saying when the final result is expected. Your result must be forwarded ASAP. As applications are assessed soon after the closing date, if you are awaiting results you will only be considered if places remain following initial offers.

Applications open in early March

Apply to ucd

If places remain in a course after assessment of applications received by the closing date, late applications may be accepted from 22 August to 1 September. If you are considering transfer before 1 July, don't postpone applying until this date as there may be no places available.

If you are considering a transfer please check the fees implications at www.ucd.ie/fees.

Some programmes will not normally consider applicants who have been unsuccessful in a similar programme - full details are on the restrictions page.

The above is summary information only. Full regulations are included in the transfer protocol.

All offers of a place are subject to UCD's Terms and Conditions of Offer.
All students must comply with the general regulations of the university
