Who we are and what we do

UCD Registry - Admissions is a small team within UCD Registry. We are physically located in the Open Plan area of the Tierney Building.

The main tasks of the team are as follows:

Advice for incoming 1st years

Starting in UCD is a very exciting time filled with new experiences, new people and new methods of study. There is plenty of information available to assist.

All new students receive a welcome book to give them as much information as possible before the start of term. The recent version of the booklet is available here. Your will also be sent information relating to Garda Vetting and Health Screening if this is relevant to your programme.

You should try to attend as many orientation events as possible.

Your timetable is personalised depending on which modules you pick and will be available to you as soon as you register.

Reading lists are usually distributed by the module co-ordinator during the first week of terms - the books should all be available in the library

Liaison with CAO

The Admissions Officer, Jill O'Mahony, is UCD's designated liaison person with the CAO and all communication between UCD and the CAO should go via the Admissions Officer.

The CAO website can be visited at www.cao.ie

The CAO is the agent for Higher Education Institutions (HEI) participating in the CAO Application System. These bodies agree annually the application regulations, procedures and timetable. The purpose of the CAO is to process applications centrally and to deal with them in an efficient and fair manner. The HEI's retain the function of making decisions on admissions.

Liaison with Guidance Counsellors

A portal for Guidance Counsellors is available at myucd.ie.
UCD Registry – Admissions works closely with the Student Recruitment Office in the provision of services to Guidance Counsellors. The Admissions Officer also participates in the annual IGC/CAO events.

Events for Guidance Counsellors are held from occasionally. Please see https://myucd.ucd.ie/cgc/ for details.
