Dear Colleagues,
I wish to inform you of a number of exciting new developments from the Online Document Publishing Initiative which enables students and graduates to securely produce and manage their own UCD documents online.
This initiative was rolled out in August 2011 with the online Certificate of Attendance and extended in February 2012 with the Academic Transcript. To date, nearly 8,000 students and graduates have availed of this service.
As of 21 June, a further 4,300 students who completed their qualification in the semester 2 Grade Approvals Process are now able to produce an online Transcript. In addition to this, all compete students (who began in or after September 2006) are now able to avail of an online Academic Statement, which confirms on one page, their award details. Also, continuing students can now produce their Statement of Results (or Judgment) online.
Further developments due for release over the next three months include:
- A single view of a Graduate Research (GR) student's record, listing all key information pertinent to their GR Programme, such as thesis details, registration information and significant dates. Through this development, students will be able to review their own record, Supervisors will be able to see that of their Supervisees and Schools will be able to review their GR students through Infohub. This will be available from 15 August 2012. Further detailed information will be distributed on this development prior to its release.
- In order to ensure appropriate security of students' personal data, Certificates of Attendance will time out on an annual basis from 8 August 2012. This will prevent certificate recipients from having ongoing, unauthorised access to students' dynamic data pertaining to term codes other than those initially supplied on the certificate.
- From 3 September 2012, graduates who began modularised Programmes in or after September 2006 will be able to able to avail of an online Diploma Supplement. This is an official document stemming from the Bologna Treaty which is designed to facilitate greater comparison of qualifications and student mobility throughout the European Higher Education Area (see http://www.europass.ie/europass/euro_dip.html).
