Agricultural Science students from across Ireland visited UCD’s Lyons Research Farm on February 26th 2010 for Practical Demonstrations on Agricultural related issues.

"Building an integrative research framework  Workshop"

Prof Alex Evans and Prof Maurice Boland were involved with speaking at sessions in the Workshop “Building an integrative research framework to deliver profit, through breeding, to the Agri-Food Industry” held in Portlaoise on 28th April 2009.

Two Students win Gold Medals in Undergraduate Awards, Ireland

Lynne O’Shea from University College Dublin in Pharmacy for essay “Analysis of the p53 tumour suppressor protein activation in Xenopus” & Claire Fitzsimons from University College Dublin in Agriculture for essay “Nutritional factors affecting the fertility of dairy cows embryos” win Gold Medals at the Undergraduate Awards of Ireland. The winners were chosen by an academic review process by 33 separate panels made up of leading figures from across Irish academia, the public, private and citizen sector.

Two of students won Glod Medals out of  1,600 submissions were received made up of papers, essays and dissertations produced as part of normal course work during each academic year.  In addition to receiving a gold medal for their submissions each students winning essays will be published in an annual journal.

Dr Michael Diskin appears as judge on Feirm Factor

Dr Michael Diskin appeared as a Guest Judge on Irish Reality TV Series "Feirm Factor".  Michael was one of a series of judges who made appearances throughout the series, offering their own expertise and experience to the contestants.
