In the recent announcement by Thomson Reuters of the 2011 Journal Citation Reports (JCR), the world's most influential resource for information on highly cited and peer-reviewed publications, the “Food and Bioprocess Technology” (FABT) journal with Professor Da-Wen Sun from UCD School of Biosystems Engineering as its Editor-in-Chief, was ranked in the 4th place in the World.
The JCR includes a combination of impact and influence metrics, and millions of cited and citing journal data points that comprise the complete journal citation network in the Thomson Reuters Web of Science's Science Citation Index. In the 2011 JRC, out of a total of 128 journals that were included in the category of Food Science and Technology, FABT received an Impact Factor of 3.703, placing it in the top 4th position among these journals.
FABT was initiated by Prof Sun, who was subsequently appointed as its Editor-in-Chief by its publisher Springer. Since its launch in 2008, both the number of articles published in the journal and the journal impact factor have increased significantly. A member of Royal Irish Academy, a member of Academia Europaea, and a Fellow of International Academy of Food Science and Technology, Professor Da-Wen Sun is a leading world authority on food engineering research. His many scholarly works have become standard reference materials for researchers in the areas of computer vision, computational fluid dynamics modeling and vacuum cooling.
