The Sanofi-Aventis Newman Fellowship in Obesity & Inflammation (Ref: 01)
The appointment of a Newman Fellow in Obesity & Inflammation is established with the generous support of Sanofi-Aventis. This prestigious Fellowship is tenable for a two-year period and has an attractive remuneration package attached. The Newman Fellow will be expected to contribute to the development of an active research programme which is focused on the clinical problem of obesity, particularly its metabolic and inflammatory effects. The Fellow will be based in St. Vincent's University Hospital as part of a multi-disciplinary team including clinicians, pathologists and surgeons and will also have access to research facilities in the Conway Institute.
Applications are invited from candidates who hold a doctoral degree and have experience in molecular biology and inflammatory mechanisms. Applications should have a strong interest in the field of metabolism and obesity, particularly the possible link between inflammation and insulin resistance. The successful applicant will have already published in high impact journals and will show interest in addressing important clinical issues using research methodology.
