Ireland and South Africa R&D Collaboration Workshop

 


The Irish Universities Association and the European South African Science and Technology Advancement Programme (ESASTAP) welcome all researchers to a workshop on exploring potential research synergies between Ireland and South Africa. The workshop will take place in the IUA, 48 Merrion Square, Dublin 2 on Tuesday, 21st March 2006, from 10am – 4pm.

This event will be co-funded by Enterprise Ireland and Paraig Hennessy from the Department of Trade, Enterprise and Employment will give the opening address. The event will also be attended by a representative from the South African Embassy in Dublin.

ESASTAP is a Specific Support Action, implemented by the South African Department of Science and Technology and funded by the European Commission under the Sixth Framework programme to facilitate networking between European and South African scientists. Dr Mandi Mzimba, the Senior Science & Technology Representative to Europe will be joined by the National Contact Points for Life Sciences, IST, Food and Energy. They will present an overview of the South African research landscape and the aims and functions of the European South African Science and Technology Advancement Programme (ESASTAP).

In the afternoon there will be an opportunity for researchers and others to meet the South African National Contact Points to discuss specific collaborative ideas.
