UCD Spin-off ChangingWorlds Wins DHL Exporter of the Year 2005 Award

 


ChangingWorlds, a spin-off from UCD’s School of Computer Science and Informatics has won the DHL Exporter of the Year 2005 Award. ChangingWorlds is a leading provider of intelligent mobile communication portals and personalisation technology that is deployed by 30 leading mobile network companies worldwide including Vodafone, O2, and Swisscom Mobile. Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Micheál Martin, TD, formally presented ChangingWorlds with a specially commissioned trophy.

ChangingWorlds' ClixSmartTM advanced personalisation technology improves the usability of mobile portals by building up a profile for each individual subscriber and automatically adapting the mobile operator's standard service menu to suit the user's changing interests.

ChangingWorlds, founded in 1999 by Professor Barry Smyth and Paul Cotter to commercialise research carried out at UCD, recently located an R&D team at NovaUCD, the Innovation and Technology Transfer Centre at UCD to develop a pipeline of mobile technology products in close collaboration with researchers in the School of Computer Science and Informatics.

ChangingWorlds, which employs over 70 staff, exports its technology to 30 countries generating over 90 percent of its annual revenue from export sales. Headquartered in Leopardstown, Dublin, ChangingWorlds has also recently opened new offices in San Francisco, USA, and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to support its business development activities in North America and Asia respectively.
