TRIL have just issued the third edition of their newsletter. This edition and previous versions are available on the TRIL website at http://www.trilcentre.org/who-we-are/newsletters.html. From 2011, the newsletter will be quarterly.
Among other topics, this edition features an article on how a phone call may help detect cognitive decline using ‘Dear Diary’, a technology developed by TRIL. Researchers are attempting to identify characteristics of older people's speech that predict their level of cognitive functioning—speech biomarkers that could signal the onset of problems.
You can also read about Stepping Stones, an exercise programme developed by TRIL researchers, designed specifically to be carried out in short, regular intervals. Research has shown that regular and ongoing participation in physical exercise can provide significant health benefits, particularly for maintaining physical and mental health later in life.
The newsletter also lists Recent Publications, features a TRIL researcher and brings detail of upcoming news and events. It is aimed at everyone who is interested in TRIL’s work, both current and potential partners – please sign up to receive future editions at http://www.trilcentre.org/.
