Universitas 21 Early Career Researcher Workshop on Healthy Living - Applications Open!

UCD Research and UCD International are pleased to announce the opening of applications for the Universitas 21 Early Career Researcher Workshop to be held at the University of Birmingham, UK from 13-15 December 2011.  The theme of the workshop is Healthy Living and researchers from all disciplines with an interest in healthy living are invited to apply.  The aim of the workshop is to meet global peers for networking while gaining valuable skills and training in critical aspects of research career development, such as media and communication skills, journal editing, licensing and spin-offs, grant writing, and career development. Training will be conducted by academics and/or industry professionals with experience in these skills and research career development training.

Eligibility

The workshop is open to researchers who are within the first eight years post-PhD with discretion for researchers who have started the research component of their career later, had career breaks or industry experience.  A maximum of three awards, each worth €600, will be made available to support the cost of flights, accommodation and subsistence. There is no registration fee for the workshop.

How to Apply:

Applications should be sent by email to Una Condron (una.condron@ucd.ie) and Alex Boyd (alex.boyd@ucd.ie) no later than 29 August 2011.  Consideration will be given to applicants who demonstrate a keen interest in innovation and/or industry engagement and have a novel plan to disseminate the information learned in the workshop to Early Career Researcher colleagues at UCD on their return.  Successful applicants may be asked, upon their return, to help promote the opportunities available to early career researchers through the Universitas 21 network across UCD.
