The College of Agriculture, Food Science & Veterinary Medicine delivers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the areas of Agriculture, Environment, Food Science, Human Nutrition, and Veterinary Sciences. The College supports the indigenous agri-food and animal health industries in Ireland by educating students to become industry leaders and by conducting world class, cutting edge research.
The College is a centre of expertise in the sciences underpinning the safety of the food chain, food quality, animal health and welfare, and public health. Research in the College contributes to an improvement in the sustainability of agriculture, health and welfare of animals and humans, quality and security of food, and consumer well-being.
The College is home to 2 major nationally funded research programmes (the Reproductive Biology Research Cluster and the Irish Drug Delivery Network). Researchers from the College are key participants in the UCD Conway Institute and the UCD Institute of Food and Health together creating a critical mass in targeted research areas of cell and system biology, translational medicine, and food, nutrition and health.
